Abstract

One of the main objectives of any state’s policy on food is to ensure that it is safe. Due to the gravity of this goal, governments try to regulate any food oriented matters by creating a system of institutions. These include provisions of law as well as the institutions created to execute those regulations. In Poland, the implementation of the provisions of the Act of Food and Nutrition Safety is mainly the responsibility of the State Sanitary Inspection and Veterinary Inspection. Also, the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection plays an important part in ensuring the safety of food products. The article aims to determine the changes in the quality of food based on data from the above mentioned institutions after 2000. The conducted analysis proves that the quality of food products in Poland is diverse and shows no stable tendency of improvement. This means that it is necessary to constantly control the process of production and distribution of food.
