Servicios ambientales y gestión de los recursos hídricos utilizando el modelo WEAP: casos de estudio en Iberoamérica

Abstract

En el presente trabajo, se identifican las experiencias de los países Iberoamericanos que han aplicado la Bioeconomía en el sendero de los Servicios Ambientales (SA) de regulación hídrica y calidad del agua, como parte de la gestión de los recursos hídricos ante los impactos del cambio climático. Se realizó la revisión de documentos y casos de aplicación de esquemas de Pago por Servicios Ambientales (PSA) en América Latina y Caribe (ALC). Se incorpora, además, la aplicación del modelo hidrológico WEAP (Water Evaluation and Planning System) como modelo para la gestión de los recursos hídricos. Se hace una revisión de los casos de aplicación de este modelo hidrológico en ALC, que permite la estimación de los SA del recurso agua y su relación con el uso del suelo y los cambios climáticos.
