El capital social comunitario en el reparto San Jerónimo de la ciudad de León

Abstract

La investigación trata sobre el nivel de capital social comunitario en el reparto San Jerónimo de la ciudad de León, en 2010. Este reparto es uno de los más antiguos de la periferia norte de la ciudad con bajos niveles de progreso social en relación a otros barrios que surgieron con posterioridad al mismo. Los objetivos se centran en la identicación de indicadores de capital social, en el análisis de los factores que limitan el desarrollo de éste y en la valoración de las posibilidades de mejora del capital social como activo que facilite el desarrollo comunitario. La información se obtuvo de encuestas a jefes de familias y entrevistas a líderes comunitarios y a una representante de las instituciones que intervienen. Entre los hallazgos en el reparto están: aislamiento estructural, estructura tradicional formal, conformismo, desconanza en las instituciones y, no obstante, un capital social de tipo intermedio dado el alto grado de unidad y sentido de pertenencia y las notables relaciones interpersonales, tolerancia, solidaridad y cooperación vecinal expresada en una singular cooperativa de servicios fúnebres y una brigada de jóvenes que garantiza la seguridad ciudadana del reparto.
