Abstract

El riñón tiene como función principal el filtrar los productos metabólicos de desecho y el exceso de sodio y de agua de la sangre, así como facilitar su eliminación del organismo, regular la presión arterial y la producción de glóbulos rojos; sin embargo este pierde esta capacidad cuando existe ERC (enfermedad renal crónica). El desconocimiento sobre esta enfermedad lleva a muchos a tener una mala práctica en su vida sea que padezcan la enfermedad o no. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar el conocimiento, actitudes y prácticas de los habitantes de la comunidad de la ISLA-Chichigalpa, sobre la ERC. Fue una investigación descriptiva de corte transversal realizando una encuesta a una muestra de 198 personas; en donde se evidencia un conocimiento un tanto distorsionado sobre la enfermedad y más aún sobre el tratamiento de esta, llevándolos por tanto a tener una actitud no favorable con respecto a cierto tipo de tratamiento y por ende a desarrollar conductas no saludables principalmente en cuanto a tratamiento, si bien es cierto más de un 60% de los encuestados afirmaron que llevan a cabo conductas preventivas.
