Seroprevalencia del VIH/SIDA en privados/as de libertad recluidos en el Sistema Penitenciario de Chinandega, en el periodo Enero-Junio del 2007

Abstract

El Sistema Penitenciario de Chinandega alberga un elevado número de privados/as de libertad con vida sexual promiscua y con prácticas de riesgo para la infección por VIH. El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue determinar la seroprevalencia del VIH en los presidiarios/as. Diseño Metodológico: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. El muestreo fue aleatorio simple de 112 personas. Resultados: Se encontraron 2 casos positivos confirmados con la prueba Western Blot, encontrándose una seroprevalencia global de 1.7%. Los datos sociodemográficos encontrados fueron: edad 25-29 años (31.3%); sexo masculino (66%), secundaria (44.6%), solteros (44.6%). En cuanto a la seroprevalencia de VIH/SIDA: hombres (2.7%), primaria (5%), casados (5%), antecedentes de ITS (7.1%), múltiples parejas sexuales (3.2%) y uso ocasional del condón (3.5%). Conclusiones: Existe una elevada seroprevalencia de infección por VIH en los privados/as de libertad del Sistema Penitenciario, 48.9 veces mayor con respecto a la seroprevalencia a nivel nacional.
