Abstract

At first glance, it appears as if the "triumph of capitalism" is in full swing, the cooperative movement in disarray and retreat, and the "end of ideology" just around the corner. The capitalist ideology seems to be marching swiftly towards certain victory and hegemony. This paper analyzes the negative impact on individuals and society of the current trend towards unbridled competition, and discusses signs of resistance to the problems created by multinational corporations and their global competition. The paper then presents strategies, based on human potential, for initiating a transformation from competition towards a system based on voluntary cooperation and mutual care.
