Abstract

This publication presents the projected production costs for the sugarcane and ethanol sector for the 2015/16 harvest in the Central-South region of Brazil. The 2015/16 harvest, which began in April 2015, will be characterized by a recovery in agricultural productivity, which had been hampered by the low rainfall recorded during the summer of 2013/14. On the other hand, expectations of rising product prices combined with the recovery in agricultural productivity will not be sufficient to reverse the historical trend of low profitability in the sector.
