Abstract

The increasingly intense climate change threatens the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural sector, making technology-based innovation an urgent need to maintain national food security. This study aims to analyze the impact of adopting the Internet of Things (IoT) on income and production factors in carrot farming in Gobleg Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The study was conducted using a comparative approach between 20 IoT-using farmers and 20 conventional farmers, utilizing primary data collected through surveys and interviews. Income analysis was performed by comparing revenues and costs, while production factors were analyzed using multiple linear regression based on the Cobb-Douglas production function. The study results indicate that adopting IoT significantly reduces labor costs by 36%, enabling greater allocation of funds for productive inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. IoT farmers produced 5.585 kg of carrots per 5.000 m² per growing season, higher than conventional farmers (5.432 kg). The net income of IoT farmers reached Rp 8.686.758 per 5.000 m² per growing season with an R/C ratio of 1,35, while conventional farmers only achieved Rp 3.786.109 and an R/C ratio of 1,13. Regression analysis indicates that IoT adoption and land area significantly impact production, while excessive seed use reduces yields. These findings underscore the urgency of policies and investments to expand IoT adoption to enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability in Indonesia's horticultural agriculture sector.
