Cash ou information ? Changer le comportement parental en faveur du développement infantile précoce au Nicaragua

Abstract

Dans de nombreux pays, les jeunes enfants souffrent de retards importants dans le développement cognitif précoce. Ceci peut sérieusement nuire à leur réussite en tant qu’adulte, en partie parce que les investissements dans la scolarité et autres dimensions du capital humain seront moins rentables si les enfants n’ont pas les niveaux d’aptitude cognitive et sociale requis avant d’entrer à l’école. Comprendre les causes de ces retards et identifier les moyens à mettre en oeuvre pour les corriger sont une des priorités pour la recherche. Les résultats d’une série de tests d’évaluation au Nicaragua suggèrent que, au-delà des transferts d’argent, des interventions qui arrivent à changer le comportement des parents peuvent avoir des effets durables sur le long terme.
