Abstract

This study analyses the factors influencing farmers in adoption of different planting methods for guava cultivation in Bengaluru (R) and Koppal districts of Karnataka. Choosing the right planting method is essential for optimizing guava production and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. The data was collected from 60 respondents constituting 30 sample respondents from each selected district. The results revealed that family size, education and landholding were significant predictors of the outcome, with education having a strong negative effect and landholding and family size with positive effect. Specifically, for each unit increase in education, the odds of the outcome decreased significantly, while an increase in landholding and family size dramatically increased the odds, suggested a substantial influence. Conversely, age and occupation did not significantly impact the outcome, indicating that they may be less relevant in this context. Overall, the model demonstrated a good fit with Nagelkerke R Square of 0.806.
