Significance of Livestock and Livestock Products: Policy Issues and Desired Strategies

Abstract

Marketing of livestock and their products is an important aspect of demand driven sustainable production and utility. Pragmatic regulations of livestock transport and efficient marketing at livestock markets having relevant facilities for handling animals with practice of animal welfare measures are essential requirements. Present conditions of livestock transport and livestock markets need to be improved with mission mode approach. A task force of farmers, officials, experts, traders, entrepreneurs etc need to be set up for evolving strategies for improved efficiency in the marketing of livestock and their products with appropriate developmental programs and regulatory support.
