The scenario of farmers and agricultural marketing of West Bengal

Abstract

Agriculture might be an important part of primary sector but the poorest section of the society, especially small and marginal farmers, in the rural areas provide the supply of our necessary food grains and required agricultural products. But they are depriving from their actual profit. After independence, through the reforms in agricultural market, Central and State Government tried to meet up the gap between the farmers received price and final retail price, but both the governments did not succeed. Since agriculture is a state entitlement. Thus West Bengal Government, solely has taken various initiatives to increase in farmers’ income. The central objective of this paper is to analyse the scenario of farmers and agricultural marketing of west Bengal. The paper is based on secondary data and literature made available from various secondary sources. The study is analytical in nature.
