Abstract

Agricultural marketing system plays an important role in agricultural trade practices. The APLM Act-2017 was proposed to make agricultural marketing system more reformed and liberalized and provisions under it provides an efficient way by which both farmers and buyers could directly connect. It helps farmers to get the reasonable price for their farm produce and also buyers can easily obtain the required commodities. The non-experimental descriptive and exploratory study was used to assess the suitability and acceptability of various provisions of APLM Act to different states. This study also found reasons for not accepting some reforms and modification done and required in this Act. The study was conducted in 14 states and 2 UTs. Three-point Likert scale was used to assess suitability of Act. Likewise, acceptability was also checked on three-point Likert scale. We concluded that there was a wide difference between suitability and acceptability to provisions by different states because maximum provisions found to be fully suitable to states but they are not accepting all of them in modified form, even some provisions are not at all suitable and acceptable. Also, it is needed to look into those issues and modifications which states are required in this Act.
