¿Estamos ante un nuevo escenario mundial de precios para el arroz?

Abstract

Cuando parecía que el comportamiento del mercado mundial del arroz se mantenía relativamente ajeno a lo que desde ya hace algún tiempo venía sucediendo con otros cultivos, comenzó a observarse - tímidamente desde diciembre de 2007 pero con mucho mayor claridad desde enero de este año - cómo este cereal se vino sumando a la escalada general de los precios de los productos agropecuarios. El objetivo de este artículo es pasar revista a las ideas más relevantes tratadas en el congreso Arroz de las Américas realizado en Porto Alegre, Brasil, en abril de 2008.
