Abstract

In the 21st century, the use of ICT (information and communication technology), digital and smart devices is an integral part of a competitive food economy. The world's population is constantly growing, which also means that the demand for food will increase, so it is necessary to increase the productivity and efficiency of agriculture, for which technological innovation is indispensable. The aim of the research is to present the opinion of those working in agriculture in the Central Region of Romania, Székelyföld, regarding the current situation of agriculture, with particular regard to the use of ICT and digital tools and solutions, and to formulate a vision of the future, which also includes the application of new digital technologies and tools. The role of the state, educational institutions, host organization(s) and the agricultural development agency is important and indispensable in the completion of the digitalization process of the food economy by developing an appropriate agricultural strategy, providing vocational training, disseminating knowledge, providing expert advice and financial support.
