In order to meet the expectations set for agriculture, as a result of the combined effect of changes in the conditions of farming, agricultural production has undergone significant changes. One aspect of the result of these changes is the increase in production standards. The other aspect is the negative impact on the environment. The latter also deserves special attention because agriculture has a speafic relationship with natural resources, and it actively uses some of their elements - for example, soil. Appropriate responses must be given to the global problems arising in ecological systems as a result of human activity. Today, a situation has developed where humanity has left traces that have already reached or exceeded the ecological ceiling. The need to maintain the desired balance in the long term is not debatable. But it can be formulated as a question; how can this be done when agricultural production is also profit-oriented, Changes in the conditions of farming - due to the expectations set for the sector - often have a compelling effect. Agriculture has a specific relationship with natural resources, the vast majority of which are resources that are also elements of the biosphere, and their role in sustainability is decisive, but the series of questions could be continued. In our study, we seek answers to these guestions. Our work is structured as follows: after the introduction, we discuss the interpretation of sustainability by different disciplines and paradigms, and its manifestations in agriculture. Then, with an interdisciplinary approach based on systems theory and an integrated approach, we try to explore the complex theoretical background of sustainability, including - based on the results of various global sustainability models and our own model calculations - the economic aspecks of certain solutions to sustainability. Using the most modern literature processing software, we attempt to interpret the concept of sustainable agriculture based on keyword searches in the international literature of WOS, Finally, in the conclusions chapter, we record the definition of environmental sustainability and the areas of sustainable agriculture.
