Abstract

----------------------------------- This study is intended to show that in preparing land improvement projects, in realising land development plans for attaining sustainable countryside long term objectives must include the development of hunter economy and hunter tourism. The aim must be reduction of migration away from the countryside, generation of new employment opportunities and attainment of the objectives of sustainable development, environmental and nature protection. Hunter tourism and hunter economy can be relevant to many objectives of land development and should be regarded as an area to be supported. The income from hunter economy derives fundamentally from the hunting licences sold to domestic and foreign hunters. Hunter tourism in Hungary has been playing a leading role in Europe for many decades. This was supplemented by the infrastructure and services connected to hunting. The professional and organisational framework for this activity is already given, but marketing and the level of services could be further improved. Services connecting to hunting may complement the increasingly important countryside development and rural and eco-tourism well.
