Abstract

The adult education policy in France may hardly respond to farmers' needs in marginal rural areas. This paper makes three kinds of suggestions to conceive a suitable adult education for marginal zones. 1.An adult education policy will be only an accompanying factor of an extension policy mobilizing sufficient resources. 2. The adult education objectives have to be distinguished according to the many kinds of farmers : middle class farmers, poor farmers, part time farmers, neo rural population. 3. Adult education must take into account the community dimension of any extension project.
