Abstract

Young farmers' new aspirations and proposals - The young farmers of 1960 were the pioneers of a renewal of agricultural policy. Those of today would like to correct it and adapt it according to their present needs. A study carried out in 1972 shows that, like their elders, they are still in favour of the family farm, but that they want to be considered exactly like the young people in other walks of life. Their principal causes for concern are the insecurity of their income and the lack of land available for young farmers. Today the CNJA proposes that the poUcy of aid for starting new farm businesses should be stepped up : the present grant to be doubled and the status of associate to be introduced to facilitate the transition, control of the evolution of land tenure, the reduction of land costs by generalizing the system of joint ownership of land and the organization of agricultural markets to be introduced. All this can only be done within the framework of the EEC which is favourable to the development of French farming. It will be the second phase of the « green revolution » that
