This decline of the land rent is ascribed. to the general production intensification and a less impor- tant use of land. However, recent observations of a general increase of land values and especially the increase of no farm use of land arise the question as to the Validity of this analysis. The importance of these two phenomena at the present time leads to call the data of the analysis into question again. As a matter of fact the theses on the declining rôle of land and its return in the economic growth do not take into consideration the part taken up by nonfarm uses. Is this price increase going to last ? Which are its impacts on the level and the distribution of the land rent ? The analysis has undubitably become more complex : these outside acquisitions complicate the work of the farmers (whose farms are often disorganized) on the other hand as a result of new kinds of economic behavior, the analysis of the land rent should' be completed by that of increment values on capital.
