Abstract

Pig farming in the Republic of Croatia is an important animal farming branch supplying quality meat to consumers. In this paper, the development of pig farming in Croatia and the EU countries is described. The aim of the paper is to research the development of pig farming in the period from 2010 to 2016 – three years after Croatian accession to the EU – and compare the Croatian data with the state of pig farming in the EU countries. Due to the lack of increase in domestic production, Croatian accession to the EU did not have a positive impact on the development of pig farming.
