Some thoughts on Federal Agricultural Policy

Abstract

American agriculture continues to face an uncertain future. The banking industry shares the concerns of producers about the future economic viability of agriculture. Even in this uncertain environment, competition for safe and sound credit opportunities is strong, and that competition among lenders benefits the producer. Credit, however, cannot be used as a replacement for earnings and profits.
