What's in a name - the 100% loan "participation" rule

Abstract

A national chartering proposal issued by the Farm Credit Administration would permit the Farm Credit System's empire builders to expand regionally or nationally, without advance FCA approval. Continuing its efforts to boost the fortunes of the FCS empire builders, the FCA, in some very clever wordsmithing, has proposed another rule that would permit FCS institutions to participate in 100% of an ag loan originated by a non-FCS lender. Buying a 100% loan participation is the same as purchasing the entire loan.
