Bad news (maybe) on the tax front (March 2000)

Abstract

The US Supreme Court has just declined to review an Arkansas State Supreme Court decision exempting production credit associations (PCA) from state taxes. While this is bad news, it appears the court declined to review because of a procedural problem in how the state of Arkansas filed its appeal. Therefore, there is a good chance that another state will appeal essentially the same issues to the Supreme Court.
