Journal readers cautiously optimistic about GMOs

Abstract

While the controversy surrounding genetically modified organisms (GMO) and what to do with GMO grain swirls like eddies in some areas and whirlpools in others, agricultural lenders' attitudes are one of neutrality - at least for now. This conclusion is based up the responses to a survey conducted by the Journal of Agricultural Lending in September 1999. Overwhelmingly, 88.79% indicated their bank or lending institution did not have a policy regarding production loans to producers wishing to plant GMO seed stock.
