FCA moves ahead to promote reckless competition (October 1998)

Abstract

The Farm Credit Administration (FCA) is moving rapidly to implement its revolutionary new philosophy to promote potentially destructive competition among Farm Credit System (FCS) lenders. The FCA refused to post its new philosophy on its Web site or promote its existence. As a public service, the new philosophy has been posted at http:www.ely-co.com/fcs.htm. Once the congressional review period ends, the proposed rule will be published in the Federal Register for 90 days of public comment before it is finalized. Essentially, this rule will give 7 of 8 FCS banks as well as the 193 FCS lending associations the ability to lend or provide related services anywhere within the US.
