Abstract

Today, the Farm Credit System (FCS) has 6 Farm Credit Banks (FCB), down from 12 a decade ago. However, 2 of the FCBs - AgAmerican and Western - have the same management and, therefore, essentially are one institutions. Consolidation also has occurred in various degrees within the FCB regions. For example, CoBank's region is served by just 4 Agricultural Credit Associations, while Texas is served by 33 associations of various types.
