Abstract

This paper highlights the economic impact of indirect taxes on economic growth rate by using a Panel Data regression model. The econometric assessment implies the effects of the variables from 1996 to 2016 for the Baltic States. On one side, the estimations performed assert remarkable results from a statistical perspective with government expenditures, excises and other consumption taxes leading to economic decline. On the other side, the other explanatory variables of the model support economic growth. Also, the Baltic States adopted the VAT system later than other countries but has advantages because of the range of different rates for goods and services.
