Abstract

The vortex unleashed at the end of year 2008 shattered the trust of investors and general public in the financial and credit institutions, which registered huge losses due to the exposure on the financial markets. Comparable as proportion only to the "Great Depression", the current economic crisis has almost destroyed the company American International Group, a symbol of stability and professionalism. A year after receiving the Fed bailout, the company seems to get on its feet, obtaining liquidities by selling certain assets, in order to give back the money it received. Nevertheless, the recovery process is far from being ended, because this could take several years from now.
