Abstract

This article test two hypothesis: (i) an increase in the GDP has a positive impact on the production of Renewable Energy and (ii) a population growth have positive impact on the production of renewable energy. In order to accept these hypotheses we conduct an empirical study based on cross section and panel data, applying several estimation models. We conclude that the first hypothesis holds together but the second hypothesis could not be statistically confirmed. In addition, we show that expenditures on R&D lead to an increase in the production of renewable energy.
