Abstract

The museum is a center that perpetuates memory that can be used for various purposes from the educational point of view to the promoter of productive systems linked to tourism. This study is focused on the mate weed museum in the municipality of Ponta Porã, MS, and its objective was to estimate its economic value. The method used was contingent valuation, adopting the referendum model with logistic probability distribution. The estimated value of use of the Museum of Erva-Mate was approximately R$ 195.751,26. It was realized that this value is associated with aspects related to the social and economic conditions of the resident population.
