Abstract

Reader lexicon quality and organization affect text comprehension. This paper integrates empirical and theoretical investigations on how lexical quality affects understanding. This study seeks to define lexicons, which are essential to reading comprehension. This research emphasises the requirement for vocabulary teaching trajectory to improve educational fluency. Qualitative research methods, including phenomenology, underpin this study. Due to its focus on subjective experiences, the study was able to contextualise how participants use lexical information to comprehend text. A focus group discussion with five carefully picked participants captured rich and in-depth participant perspectives on vocabulary learning and text comprehension. According to this study, high-quality lexical representations enable rapid word recognition, while poorer fluency limits comprehension. This paper concludes and recommends that targeted instruction in vocabulary and fluency, which support reading development, is necessary for language learning functionality and to reduce language disjuncture for students at risk for comprehension difficulties.
