The Impact of Ownership Concentration on Firm Value: An Analysis on Borsa Istanbul

Abstract

In this paper we examined the relationship between owners¬hip concentration and firm value. Although there are mixed results in the literature on this subject, there is a consensus about that ownership concentration is a useful tool to assess and monitor management’s performance and execution. Thus, there is a positi¬ve linear relationship between firm value and ownership concent¬ration is generally the case. In this study we investigate concent-ration and firm value relationship in Borsa Istanbul for the period 2004-2009. Our results suggest there is a linear positive linear relationship between ownership concentration and firm value.
