Socio-economic development of Russian regions in the context of the digital economy

This article examines various approaches to assessing the socioeconomic development of Russian regions, presents a proprietary methodology based on sociological and statistical analysis, and examines the dynamics of key indicators of regional socioeconomic and digital development. It demonstrates that differences in approaches to assessing regional development are determined by the purpose of the study.An analysis of statistical indicators of regional development allowed us to describe the demographic characteristics of territories, standard of living, labor market, education, healthcare, environmental, and cultural indicators. Significant differences in regional indicators were identified: regions in the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts, and in some cases the Volga and Ural Federal Districts, lead the way, while regions in the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts trail in all indicators except demographic indicators (where these regions maintain their leading positions).In the context of the digital economy, territorial planning and indicator analysis are carried out using federal and regional information systems and services, some of which are freely available for review. Further development of digital technologies will enable predictive modeling of the future of regions, the implementation of the “Digital Quality of Life†and “Digital Region†concepts, and the formation of a unified digital space.
