Abstract

-- لم يمض على الاقتصاد -بوصفه علمًا متكاملاً منسقًا- إلا ما يتراوح بين قرنين وقرنين ونصف لكن مع ذلك، كان هناك إلمام لدى الكتاب القدامى الذين عالجوا القضايا الاجتماعية والشئون الإدارية من قبل بوجود رصيد من أسس ومبادئ كانت تنبني عليها الزراعة والتجارة والصناعة والشئون الاقتصادية الأخرى. كما توجد أيضًا مباحث ومناقشات حول القضايا الناجمة عن تبادل السلع واستخدام الثروة، تسفر عن إلمامهم بالأسس المعنية، إلا أن عملية التحليل المنهجي لتلك الظواهر الاقتصادية والدراسة التفصيلية لتلك الأسس قد تأخرت نسبيًا. ولقد تمكن الباحثون من استخراج التحليل الاقتصادي وآثاره من خلال كتابات يرجع زمن تأليفها إلى العصور القديمة والقرون الوسطى، والتي تشير إلى الأسس الاقتصادية التي كانت معروفة لدى المفكرين وقتئذ، وكانت تحويها -في الغالب- كتابات الفلاسفة ورجال الأعمال الذين بحثوا الأمور السياسية والإدارية، وقدموا، خلال تلك البحوث حقائق اقتصادية أو استخدموا مفاهيم اقتصادية.
