Abstract

The phenomenon of poverty in Slovakia exists not just because of its controversial understanding from a global perspective. Since 2000, Slovakia has been one of the Member States of the OECD group, which represents the most economically developed countries in the world. The definition of poverty is problematic because it cannot be narrowed down to the problem of minimum income and poverty cannot just be a statistical figure. We understand poverty in Slovakia in the sense of an uneven distribution of resources, which has a negative impact on the development of economic, educational and socio-cultural relations in individual regions as well as on the uneven ability to use these resources. This inequality is reflected mainly in the case of women, as maternity is a lifetime handicap for women. For this reason, they become vulnerable to violence in their relationships and are regarded as less valuable and more responsible for the situation. Social disparities include debt repayment, threat of execution and rent arrears. The greatest impact on social relations was brought about by the change that occurred in the second third of the twentieth century when we witnessed the process of changing social paradigms. To address the issue in our contribution, we focus on the persisting problems of gender equality and its implications for the development of social relationships and social inequalities. In this paper, we used the analytic and synthetic method of document processing, followed by a comparison within the issues in question, and at the same time we created a new arrangement.
