Poverty trends and their determinants in Peruvian households

The objective was to analyze the trend behavior of poverty and its main determinants in Peruvian households, between the periods 2019-2023. The Lobit-Binomial type regression model was considered, with a quantitative, non-experimental and correlational approach; data from the National Household Survey was used. During the analysis period, a trend towards increasing poverty in Peruvian households was shown; where the determinants towards the decrease in poverty were the monthly per capita income, the water and sewage service at home, the electricity service at home, the age of the head of the household, the primary educational level, secondary educational level, non-university higher educational level, university higher educational level, has a formal job, location of the home in the natural region of the jungle and the location of the home in the natural region of the mountains; who showed a significant change in these periods. Therefore, before the pandemic (2019), the age of the head of the household explained the decrease in poverty; in the pandemic period (2020-2021), access to the water and sewage service at home determined the decrease in poverty; and in the post-pandemic period (2022 and 2023), the university and non-university higher educational level of the head of the household determined the decrease in poverty.
