Verlaufsmuster tatsächlicher und gewünschter Arbeitszeiten im Lebensverlauf. Persistenzen und Wandel von Arbeitszeitdiskrepanzen

Abstract

Neben der Freude an der beruflichen Tätigkeit ist die Länge der Arbeitszeit entscheidend für die Zufriedenheit mit der eigenen Erwerbstätigkeit. Ob und inwiefern Unzufriedenheit mit dem Umfang der eigenen Arbeitszeit vorliegt, untersucht diese Studie anhand des SOEP und einer Sequenzmusteranalyse über den gesamten Lebensverlauf. Während Frauen zwischen 32 bis 39 Jahren tendenziell gern ihre Arbeitszeit ausweiten würden, würden höher Gebildete ab 39 Jahren gern kürzer arbeiten. Überraschenderweise wünschen sich viele Erwerbstätige in der Berufseinstiegsphase eine Verkürzung ihrer Arbeitszeit, in der Familiengründungsphase dagegen längere Arbeitszeiten.
