Abstract

Nordrhein-Westfalen steht, wie viele entwickelte Industrieregionen, vor einer Reihe neuer Herausforderungen, die nur durch das Anstoßen von Innovationsprozessen, also die Erforschung, Entwicklung, Erprobung und Markteinführung neuer oder verbesserter Verfahren, Produkte und Dienstleistungen zu bewältigen sind. Innovationen sind zu zentralen Faktoren für regionales und sektorales Wachstum geworden. .Vor diesem Hintergrund untersucht die vorliegende Studie empirisch die aktuelle Position Nordrhein-Westfalens im Innovationsgeschehen Deutschlands im Zeitverlauf und im Vergleich der Bundesländer. Ziel ist es, die spezifischen innovationsbezogenen Stärken und Schwächen der Region herauszuarbeiten.
