Abstract

En 1943, Maurice Allais publia son Traité d'économie pure. L'apport de cet ouvrage dans l'histoire de la théorie des modèles d'équilibre général est fondamental pour trois raisons. Allais conçoit un modèle d'équilibre général intertemporel. Walras avait discuté la stabilité de l'équilibre en développant sa théorie fameuse mais plutôt maladroite du tâtonnement. Allais propose, dans le Traité, la première démonstration rigoureuse de la stabilité de l'équilibre. Edgeworth et Pareto avaient introduit la notion d'optimum pour étudier les propriétés de l'équilibre concurrentiel. Allais établit les deux théorèmes fondamentaux de la théorie du bien-être en reformulant la notion de surplus.
