Abstract

This chapter deals with logistics research rather than research within the context of logistics. It addresses a difficult question facing researchers who adopt a systemic and holistic view of logistics management: how should they define the units of analysis and the scope of their research? We draw on the experience of the CRET-LOG (AMU) team which were amongst the first to adopt such a perspective on logistics. The CRET-LOG team engaged in repeated discussions on this topic with Master (DEA then MR2) and doctoral students.
