Abstract

Depuis les travaux de Kline et Rosenberg (1986), il est reconnu que l'innovation est un processus interactif avec des interactions facilitées quand elles se produisent entre des acteurs localisés à proximité. Le succès de la Silicon Valley a démontré l'importance des interactions de proximité entre les acteurs pour dynamiser l'innovation. Notre problématique dans cet article est de tester l'importance de la proximité géographique dans les réseaux d'innovation technologique des entreprises des IAA. Nous utilisons les données de CIS 8 concernant les entreprises des IAA pour répondre à cette question en utilisant une ACM et une classification hiérarchique. Nous montrons que les réseaux d'innovation ne sont principalement régionaux que pour une classe d'entreprises, composée majoritairement d'entreprises indépendantes. Au contraire, les deux autres classes d'entreprises, qui coopèrent pour innover, construisent des réseaux plus complexes en associant des partenaires régionaux, nationaux, et parfois même internationaux. Toutes les entreprises qui ont des réseaux nationaux et internationaux sont intégrées à des groupes. Cependant nos résultats montrent que la stratégie spatiale des groupes est hétérogène. Ainsi, le choix d'un partenaire pour innover est surtout dicté par des considérations d'ordre organisationnel ou stratégique et non par la seule considération de proximité géographique.
