Soutien organisationnel perçu, implication organisationnelle et satisfaction au travail : effets sur l'absentéisme dans la fonction publique

Abstract

Our study examines the respective influence of perceived organizational support, the three components of organizational commitment, and work satisfaction on local public organization employees' sickness absenteeism, in a context of new public management. The research results show that local public organization employees' sickness absenteeism is more likely to occur when their perception of organizational support is low, their calculated organizational commitment high, and their low or high affective organizational commitment combined with low work satisfaction. Our work suggests that local public organization employees' sickness absenteeism is the consequence of their organizational disenchantment and their opportunistic attitude. This research emphasizes that perceived organizational support is a potential motivator to reduce sickness absenteeism. It alerts public managers on the necessity of a supportive workplace that promotes affective organizational commitment and work satisfaction to reduce sickness related absenteeism.
