¿Atrapados en la periferia? Brechas de calidad en la educación en Colombia: Pruebas Saber 11 (2000-2018)

Abstract

RESUMEN En este trabajo, se estudia la evolución de las desigualdades en los resultados en las Pruebas Saber 11 en el periodo de 2000 a 2018, tanto para los municipios como para los departamentos de Colombia. El objetivo es saber si se está produciendo una convergencia en los resultados de este indicador de la calidad del capital humano. El rezago de los departamentos de la periferia del país con respecto a los departamentos del centro y la región Andina es evidente cuando se analizan los indicadores de formación docente y desempeno en las Pruebas Saber 11. No obstante, utilizamos la convergencia beta absoluta y sigma para examinar la evolución de estas brechas en lo corrido de este siglo. El análisis muestra un patrón de persistencia e, incluso, de crecimiento de las brechas en calidad educativa tanto a nivel municipal como departamental.
