Österreich 2025 – Arbeitszeitverteilung in Österreich. Analyse und Optionen aus Sicht der Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer

Abstract

Die Analyse der Arbeitszeitlandschaft der unselbständig Beschäftigten in Österreich zeigt einen hohen Gender Time Gap: Männer arbeiten durchschnittlich 39,8 Stunden pro Woche, Frauen mit 31,6 Stunden um ein Fünftel weniger. Eine Annäherung der Arbeitszeit entspricht sowohl individuellen Wünschen als auch gesellschaftspolitischen Zielen. Dabei würden Frauen laut Befragung durchschnittlich gern mehr Stunden pro Woche berufstätig sein, Männer hingegen weniger. Die Ansatzpunkte zu einer Verringerung der geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschiede zwischen den Arbeitszeitprofilen im Laufe des Erwerbslebens sind vielschichtig und reichen von der Änderung der Rahmenbedingungen bis hin zur Einführung neuer Arbeitszeitoptionen.
