Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Coronavirus hat die Weltwirtschaft in eine Krise gestürzt. Seit Anfang März 2020 wurden in Deutschland Kontakt- und Ausgangsbeschränkungen sowie Verbote der Geschäftstätigkeit verhängt, die Schul- und Kitabetreuung ausgesetzt und strenge Hygienevorgaben erlassen. Daraufhin hat sich die Zahl der gemeldeten Neuinfektionen deutlich reduziert. Zudem ist das Gesundheitssystem Deutschlands nicht überlastet. Nicht zuletzt deshalb wird mittlerweile eine intensive Debatte über Lockerungen geführt, die zusätzliche wirtschaftliche Aktivität zulassen würden. Vor allem Pendlerverflechtungen hatten einen großen Anteil an der Ausbreitung von COVID-19 in Deutschland. Schlechte Witterung und eine hohe Bevölkerungsdichte waren weitere Treiber des Infektionsgeschehens.
