Abstract

The electrical fittings industry cluster in Sargodha is long established but the products produced here are of sub-standard quality and sold solely in the domestic market. Because of increasing imports of electrical fittings from China, however, entrepreneurs in this cluster are attempting to raise product quality and strengthen marketing channels. Such improvements have been introduced by entrepreneurs who are relatively more educated, and have more experience in marketing and with running businesses. Some of these changes have started showing impacts on enterprise performance and provide valuable guidance about the design of effective policies to promote industrial development in low income settings.
