Abstract

With the advent of globalization, social science is taking new academic approaches to re-visit and re-examine many social issues. The world of sport, too, adopts a new theoretical lens for a better understanding of the topic of sport management. The purpose of this experimental discourse is to propose a different, nay, comprehensive academic approach to an understanding of current sport labour migration. Given the fact that current sport labour migration reveals uniqueness, a new perspective to re-visit and re-examine the current sport labour migration is necessary. This article suggests and even carefully argues that current sport labour migration can be explained as a form of global outsourcing. Three most common reasons for outsourcing, cost minimization, quality improvement and access to resources, are used to view sport labour migration as a form of global outsourcing. Based on the suggestion and argument made, this article also provides a direction for future research.
