Abstract

We constructed a decision-support system (DSS) to help the distribution network of Pfizer/Warner Lambert to plan its operations. Using OR tools, databases, programming languages, and spreadsheets, this system supports decisions concerning daily operations, annual planning, and long-run strategic planning. This DSS improved the firm's ability to make rapid, better-informed decisions in many different areas of distribution and supply chain ranging from individual customer deliveries to long-term manufacturing location and technology.
