Il valore dei luoghi nella nuova globalizzazione

Abstract

Negli ultimi due decenni si sono succedute numerose crisi economiche e politiche che sembravano ogni volta decretare la fine del sistema di scambi e relazioni produttive internazionali che chiamiamo globalizzazione. Eppure, nonostante i problemi creati dalla mancanza di una sua adeguata governance, il motore della globalizzazione basato sull?economia della conoscenza non si ? affatto spento, oggi rafforzato dalle tecnologie digitali e dalla crescita degli intangibili. L?articolo prende in considerazione le diverse fasi dei processi di integrazione economica internazionale, discutendo le ragioni del suo rallentamento e i pericoli di un suo brusco arresto. L?obiettivo principale ? tuttavia analizzare il ruolo assunto dai "luoghi" nel capitalismo globale della conoscenza, che una lettura superficiale tende a ritenere sempre meno significativo. Sulla base di alcuni studi recenti, si intende invece proporre l?idea che i territori produttivi - citt?, distretti, spazi metropolitani - siano destinati ad assumere un ruolo strategico nei processi di sviluppo economico, sociale e tecnologico.
